A study in startling contrasts, Brazil offers vast refreshment for the eyes as well as a great
service opportunity. Amidst pervasive poverty and hardship, local humanitarians work to provide safe child care, basic medical services, and education with only very meager resources.
Help make a difference! You can serve some of the neediest
children and families in the friendly seaside community of Salvador through Global Volunteers' host organizations. Hold a baby, tutor a teen,
play with children undergoing cancer treatment. You'll leave knowing you've invested in the lives of those who most need and appreciate your help.
During free time, volunteers can explore and learn more about the cultural and natural attractions within walking distance of the hotel, such as museums, churches, beaches, shopping centers, art galleries and boutiques. The area is safe, and police are clearly present. Volunteers can also take a day or the whole weekend to visit one or more of the nearby islands. For about $17 USD, a schooner will take you to an island beach for the day. Swimming, snorkeling, and sun bathing will fully occupy anyone's time, or you can just sit and enjoy the view.
"Thank you for sending volunteers to... assist the poor of Salvador. We look forward to... a long and mutually fruitful partnership."
~Ana Cristina Matos, Global Volunteers Host Representative
