The island of Crete is filled with beautiful places to explore. You can learn more about Greek history and culture on daily work projects and in your free time in the evening and on the weekend. Hike, bike and swim, and visit ancient archeological sites. Travel east along the sea to the island's capital, Iraklion, with its Archaeological Museum and the excavated and reconstructed palace of King Minos at Knossos just south of the city. To the west, on the far side of Rethymno is the Samarian Gorge, where you can walk or hike the 11-mile footpath through the mountains to the sea. Relaxing and soaking up the Mediterranean sun is another great way for you and your family to relax!

"I had an absolutely wonderful time in Greece...what a warm, welcoming, and energetic community we entered...I've not felt as appreciated as a teacher in 11 years of teaching in the States as I did during two weeks in Crete! Truly phenomenal, and what a gorgeous country!" ~ Christie Lund, Crete volunteer
