If you are a native English speaker, you can do this.
Help children learn the international language of commerce, technology, and opportunity. On the incredibly beautiful and exotic island of Crete, you can share your personal insights and stories of your homeland with eager "English language" students.
Not only are the children eager, but their parents and grandparents are equally thrilled that volunteers are so willing to help their children learn English. They are genuinely grateful and you will feel their appreciation.
During the school year, you can be a resource in a school classroom, helping improve local students' understanding of English. You do not need to be an experienced teacher. Your knowledge of the language "pronounciation, idioms, and syntax " enables you to be a greatly needed resource in
Crete's classrooms and in small groups.
The island of Crete is filled with beautiful places to see. Volunteers can travel 30 minutes east to the island's capital, Iraklion, with its Archaeological Museum and the excavated and reconstructed palace of King Minos at Knossos just south of the city. To the west, on the far side of Rethymno is the Samarian Gorge, where you can walk or hike the 11-mile footpath through the mountains to the sea. Relaxing and soaking up the Mediterranean sun is another great way to relax! Free-time arrangements and costs are your responsibility.
