Volunteer abroad in a verdant county called the "Garden of Ireland."
The non-profit
Glencree Centre for Reconciliation unites citizens from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for intensive workshops to advance peace.
Help promote Glencree's important work by lending a hand on important Centre upkeep projects: beautifying the grounds, painting windows and walls, setting up and clearing meeting rooms, and helping the friendly and hard-working staff with day-to-day tasks -- indoors and outside.
You will have a unique opportunity to
visit Belfast, Northern Ireland, through an optional weekend excursion arranged by the host to learn about the conflict firsthand from local residents' experiences. There will be evening workshops on the nature of the British/Irish conflict, including a historical overview and discussions on the Northern Ireland question incorporating the experiences of the Belfast trip. Free-time arrangements and costs are your responsibility.
Evenings and weekends will also allow you to enjoy cultural attractions in Dublin and nearby Bray, a coastal resort town. In addition to visiting colorful and musical Irish pubs to take in local "craic" after the work day, team members can visit notable cultural spots such as Powerscourt Gardens and the Avoca Hand Weavers shop. Nature-lovers can walk the reknown
Wicklow Way through forests, bogs and up to spectacular vistas.
