Leave Your Mark on the World as a Volunteer!

Volunteer in African villages!

Contribute to village development projects including teaching, building classrooms and dormitories, expanding water resources, planting community gardens, and supplying books and other school materials.

Help improve impoverished Tanzanian children's potential in this nationally recognized educational program. Work alongside local teachers and students during the school year in remote partner communities. Our hosts make certain your skills and interests are put to the best use on long-term community infrastructure, teaching and medical projects. Your efforts will help ease the suffering and engender hope for the future of students and their families. Lend your heart and hands to make a world of difference!

Volunteers live and work in three distinct and remote villages helping repair community structures, painting classrooms, building desks and chairs, and assist with other construction and labor tasks. Volunteers may also teach beginning through intermediate English pronunciation and conversation in a high school classrooms. English is the language of instruction, but in these partner villages, you will find that the students' English comprehension is limited. All three villages are in the Iringa district, a two day's journey from Dar es Salaam, the nation's capital. Work projects vary from team to team, as needs arise.

On some teams physicians, nurses, dentists and physical therapists may work part-time at rural clinics performing examinations and well-baby checkups. Volunteers also provide basic computer instruction on portable computers donated through various individuals and organizations.

"Education is our hope for the future, and Global Volunteers brings that hope to life for us."
~ Bishop Mdegella (ELCT), Tanzania Host
