Extended-Term Service FAQs

What type of accommodations are provided?

Your lodging and meal arrangements continue in substantially the same manner when you begin your term extension following the standard program. When your teammates depart, you remain in the same host community and most always, in the same lodging.

The difference is that you may need to move to a single room and alter your meal schedule to accommodate your personal work schedule. Your team leader will discuss any necessary changes well before your extended term begins.

What free-time opportunities will I have?

Because your work schedule will remain essentially the same (but more customized) than on your standard service program, you will still have most evenings and your weekends free for local sight-seeing and to enjoy the cultural and natural attractions of your host community.

What is the Service Program fee?

The fee of $300 per week for every extended-term service option is added to the standard service-program fee for the longest option (two or three weeks) of the standard service program in the country you choose. You may deduct any discounts, such as returning volunteer or student, for which you qualify. Please consult your volunteer coordinator for further details. As in all of our programs, this tax-deductible fee covers your meals, lodging, in-country ground transportation, orientation materials, project costs and team leader and administrative expenses.
