China Country Manager

Global Volunteers service programs are managed by on-site staff who live in the communities we serve. Most are nationals who were either born or raised in the host country. Hu Di and Bao Li are the country managers for China. Hu Di (Who Dee) became the Global Volunteers China Country Manager in January 2006. She previously served as assistant to the China Country Manager and as a local Chinese volunteer assisting Global Volunteers China teams.

Hu Di has a Bachelors Degree in Foreign Languages with a major in English and a minor in Japanese. She also recently obtained her Masters Degree in Linguistics from Xi'an International Studies University. Hu Di has international business experience working for a Taiwanese trading company and has been an English teacher and tutor prior to her work with Global Volunteers. Read Hu Di's expanded profile here.

Bao Li has a bachelor' s degree in English. She has served as volunteer host coordinator for Sino American Society since 2000. In 2006 she began serving as an assistant country manager for Global Volunteers' China program, and in 2007 she was promoted to full-time country manager. Read Bao Li's expanded profile here.

All our country managers have served on one or more volunteer teams, and each year are required to complete our intensive two-week training seminars in Minnesota. They are experienced in managing diverse groups of people, and are formally evaluated by each volunteer team. County Managers must achieve an established level of performance in order to continue leading Global Volunteers teams.

You'll receive contact information for your China country manager approximately four weeks before your service program begins.
