China Free Time

How much free time is available during the service program?
Evenings and weekends are free to explore cultural and natural attractions. On An Shang village service programs, your evenings are free to enjoy local events and visit residents.

What are free-time options?
Xi'an and Kunming are filled with cultural and historical points of interest. For instance, in Xi'an, you may visit the ancient City Walls and Gates, the Forest of Steles, and of course, the Terra Cotta Warriors. Kunming boasts the site of World Expo 99, the Petrified Forest, numerous museums, and the largest and most diverse horticultural gardens in all of China. On Hainan Island, volunteers can see the WuGong Temple, Hairui Tomb, and the World Volcanic Exibition Park along with enjoying the natural beauty of the beaches and tropical climate.

Will Global Volunteers arrange free time for me?
No. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, Global Volunteers is prohibited from making non-program-related arrangements for you. However, our team leaders and consultants can provide general guidance and advice, including a list of activities explored and enjoyed by previous teams
