About Global Volunteers

Global Volunteers started the Conversational English Program in Xi’an in April 1996. They have sent over 1,500 volunteers to hundreds of schools in this city to help many students with their spoken English.  For the past 11 years, volunteers have brought the local students the first chance to listen to and talk to native English speakers, brought them the knowledge and information about the other side of the world, and, most importantly, brought them the love from the bottom of their hearts.

Global Volunteers have developed solid partnership with a number of local schools in Xi’an from kindergartens to universities through the years.  They are schools with little access to native English speakers but where the students crave the opportunity to improve their English speaking and listening skills.  Global Volunteers strives to serve all the schools in a long-term partnership.   This is the fifth team to work at the Xi’an Biomedical Technical College.
