Host Community Information
A coastal country in West Africa with regions of dense rainforest, dry savannah and grassy plains, Ghana is known for its thriving tribal culture, rich exports of gold and cocoa, and beautiful terrain. Despite its captivating landscape and rich culture, the nation still relies heavily on international aid to provide basic services to its poorer citizens. We work with traditional councils and educational institutions to supplement meager local resources. Global Volunteers' commitment is to support broad-based community development under the direction of local leaders ensuring that volunteer teams serve the community-at-large.
"We really appreciate the work of Global Volunteers - making the world a small place to live in, through service and making friends. That's great you know!"
