Northern Ireland Work Projects

Wage peace through "hands-on" service. The Corrymeela Community is Ireland's and the U.K's oldest and most prominent peace organization. Like many NGOs, they utilize volunteers (12 months or longer) from throughout the world to help them with their diverse program agenda. As a short-term Global Volunteers team member, you have the opportunity to contribute to Corrymeela's day-to-day activities, while witnessing first-hand their significant work. You'll know you're making a difference because your efforts allow Corrymeela staff to focus on the task of bringing various groups of people from all walks of life from both Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic to meet, talk, and develop mutual understanding.

Global Volunteers' teams may be asked to assist with cooking and other kitchen work, answering phones and helping to set up meeting rooms, youth recreation activities, or outside maintenance projects such as painting walls and windows, clearing brush around buildings, weeding gardens, organizing storage rooms, etc. All projects are well within the capability of most healthy adults and put you "in the middle" of this important peace-building work.
