To build a foundation for peace through mutual understanding.

To work only at the invitation and under the direction of local people on community-based projects.

To work one-on-one and side-by-side with community people.

To attempt to do whatever volunteers are asked, within the parameters of their ability.

To use a project as the vehicle for building person-to-person relationships. 

To continue to serve in the same communities year after year, as long as an invitation is extended.
