St. Paul, MN (March 19) - You can celebrate the cause of international service and friendship between cultures by joining Global Volunteers’ 100th service program in Quito, Ecuador, planned for July 7-21.
Participants will work on child-care, construction and teaching projects at two Quito area facilities a community daycare for low-income families in the outlying village of Calderon or at Camp Hope, an organization providing healthcare and rehabilitative services to economically impoverished children with disabilities.
To celebrate this 10-year-old partnership between Global Volunteers and the people of Ecuador, many special events are planned.
Highlights will include: a reception with Ecuador Vice President Lenin Moreno and Quito Mayor Paco Moncayo, folkloric dance and music concerts, tours of Quito’s historic center and special ceremonies honoring the volunteers whose compassion and service have brightened the future for Ecuador’s youth.
Weekend opportunities include the Andean market at Otavalo, Cotopaxi National Park and the village of San Antonio, where at La Mitad del Mundo (“The Middle of the World”) you can literally straddle the Equator. Volunteers are responsible for free-time expenses.
The tax-deductible service program fee is $2,295 for two weeks (one-week option available). This covers all meals, lodging, ground transportation and the services of an experienced team leader.
