Bonafield Pierce Scholarship
for Health Care Students
Access to health care of all disciplines is lacking in many of our host commuities worldwide, especially in Africa and Latin America. To encourage and enable American medical students attending U.S. medical programs to offer their services and to learn about the pressing need for health care in the developing world, long-time Global Volunteers supporters Joyce Bonafield and Lewie Pierce have established an annual scholarship to help defray service program fees. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited health care course of study (major) and apply for a service program where you can assist on health care work projects. 12 scholarships have been awarded in 2009. Scholarships will be awarded through the end of the year while funds are available.
