In 2007, according to The World Fact Book, Portugal's population was 10,642,836. With a land mass of 35,553 square miles, it is a coastal country, bordering only Spain on its eastern perimeters.
Portugal is divided into two by the river Tagus. Her northern half consists of mountainous ranges and plateaus while the southern section is flat with rolling plains. It is comparable in size to Arizona.
The climate in Portugal varies depending upon where you are located. Summers can be hot and dry while the winter season is more wet with cooler temperatures.
