Health Care Volunteer Services

Nurses, physicians, medical students: You're needed to perform physical check-ups, test eyesight, examine newborns, and, in some cases, perform outpatient surgeries.

Physical and speech therapists can serve children with special needs.

In addition, mental health professionals, such as social workers, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurses are needed to provide counseling for several different community organizations. You can sometimes assist with a training program on domestic violence education.

You can also view the Chinese medical system from the inside as a health care volunteer. Team members teach English medical terminology to Chinese medical students and professionals, share information about current medical practices in the United States, and learn about the Chinese medical system in turn. Volunteers are given the opportunity to meet with their Chinese counterparts, observe current medical practices in hospitals, and participate in open discussions with Chinese medical professionals on topics of mutual interest. This is an experience you'll never forget! Back one page.
