Romania Free Time Options

volunteer vacation optionsThere is ample time after the work day to enjoy the many educational and cultural attractions in the Barlad area. Visits to Transylvania at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains to see the cities of Brasov and Sinaia are especially popular on the weekend. Near these cities you can also hike the towering slopes of the Prahova Valley and visit the legendary castle of Count Dracula. On a trip to northern Moldavia (southern Bucovina), you can visit the spectacular "Painted Monasteries." Locally, you can shop in nearby towns or hike the countryside. You can also attend a football (soccer) game, as this is the most popular spectator sport in Romania.

"The cohesion of the team was impressive...and a bit surprising to me. I didn't expect to enjoy my fellow volunteers so much! There were so many good times, I think this experience was very personally important to me. I intend to return...soon, I hope." ~ Bernard Cahill, Romania volunteer
