Where do I exchange money?
The only place to exchange money is at the aiport in either Johannesberg or East London. While you'll need very little spending money in the host community, please plan accordingly to have local currency available for incidentals and free-time excursions.
Can I use cash, credit cards or checks?
Visa is the most widely accepted credit card in South Africa. Travelers Checks are accepted at some foreign exchange offices. Cash is more widely accepted and generally gets a better rate than travelers checks. Large, unmarked new style design US bills are the best option.
