Eligible U.S. graduate or undergraduate students working toward health care degrees at accredited higher education institutions may apply for up to 20 partial Global Volunteers scholarships for service programs through August, 2010.
Scholarship criteria are:
- U.S. citizens enrolled in health-care degree-granting programs such as medicine, nursing,dentistry, social work, speech therapy and the like.
- Preference is given to full-time students from or attending school in Minnesota.
Applications are reviewed as they are received in the Global Volunteers offices, and grants will be made as long as funds are available.
Successful candidates will commit to serving at least two weeks in Ecuador, Peru, India, Tanzania, Ghana, Romania, Cook Islands or Xi'an, China.
Scholarship recipients will care for youth or elders in a Global Volunteers host community on projects in institutional living facilities, clinics or hospitals, assist with health education, or provide support to licensed health care professionals.
